Rope Rescue

The Los Lunas Rope Rescue Team is trained in high-angle rescue to help keep visitors safe in steep and hard-to-reach areas of our Open Space. Our team responds to emergencies on trails, cliffs, and rugged terrain to ensure safe outdoor experiences for the community.

What to do

What the Team Does

  • High-angle and steep-terrain rescue

  • Assisting lost or injured hikers

  • Supporting Search & Rescue operations

  • Partnering with local emergency agencies

  • Public safety and trail awareness

Safety Tips for Hikers

  • Know your limits and stay on marked trails

  • Carry water, sun protection, and a charged phone

  • Tell someone your hiking plan and expected return

  • Turn back if conditions change

When to Call for Help

Call 911 if you or someone else:

  • Is injured and cannot safely return

  • Is lost or stuck on steep terrain

  • Needs immediate medical or rescue assistance
