Great news to report! As of Monday, August 11th, El Terrero Construction has officially begun moving dirt for the new Los Lunas Blvd. As of right now, we expect traffic delays to be at a minimum, as the current work is being done along the river. Please visit us for future updates.

The Village was awarded an INFRA Grant in 2021 for $25 Million for the project. In order for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to officially allow these funds to be used, the Village has to ensure that our designs are ready for construction, and that all of our certifications have been obtained. Certifications include Right-of-Way (to ensure we have acquired all of the land necessary to construct the project), Railroad (to allow the railroad crossing), and Environmental (to ensure that our plans address any environmental or biological impact created by the project).
We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday August 29, the federal funds for the I-25 Second Interchange and East-West Corridor Project were obligated for construction! State and local funds are already able to be used. The Village is working hard on all of the remaining small tasks before we go out to bid and prepare to begin construction, which we anticipate happening in early 2025.
