Charles Griego was re-elected Mayor of the Village of Los Lunas in March 2018 for a second four-year term. Prior to being elected Mayor, Griego served continuously on the Village Council for 32 years, having first been elected to the Village Council in 1982. After the 2000 Census produced a Village population over 10,000, Village Councilors were required to run for office in districts. In 2002, Griego was elected Village Councilor representing District 2, a position he held until being elected Mayor in 2014.
During Griego's tenure on the Village Council, the Village developed master plans to provide long-range visions for the community, including plans for transportation, water, and wastewater.
Mayor Griego has lived in Los Lunas his entire life. He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico, and currently owns and operates Heritage Title in Los Lunas. He and his wife, Angela, have a son and a daughter, and three grandchildren.
