Aerobic Instructor Biographies

Lea Pierce

After completing a Master of Science degree in Health Education, Lea held the vision of one day becoming a fitness instructor. That dream faded when her career of 28 years took her into the field of mental health. It quickly rekindled, however, when over 6 years ago, she discovered a form of “energy yoga” then known as Dahn Yoga with origins in South Korea. Now known as Body & Brain Yoga, it was August 2013 when she became certified as a Brain Education Leader and completed her official Master Trainer designation the following November. She is driven by her heart’s desire to benefit others. Now retired, she lives out that passion helping others through “Mild Yoga” and "Enhance Fitness", her outreach classes at DFRC.

Elissa Gomez

Hi my name is Elissa Gomez. I am the Kettlebell AMPD instructor. I have been an athlete my entire life and have participated in many different sports.   In 1997, I competed in a Bodybuilding competition here in NM and held a training certification. I have been training with Kettlebells for over 7 years.   My favorite thing about using Kettlebells to exercise is that you can combine strength, flexibility training along with a calorie torching aerobic exercise.  I look forward to you joining us for a high energy AMPD class guaranteed to get your heart rate up!


Lisa King

Hi! My name is Lisa King and I LOVE Zumba! I have been a certified Zumba Instructor since August 2010. I fell in love with Zumba the first time I tried it. Come join me for my class and I guarantee you will have a blast, not to mention a great workout. Zumba is a fun and effective way to cut weight/get in shape! Hope to see you soon, Lisa

Elena Ferrer

Hi, my name is Elena Ferrer and I am a fitness coach and instructor.  I am 32 years young and married with 5 kids. I got my first certification in 2011.  I'm currently certified in PiYo (yoga + pilates), Insanity (max interval training), Cize (hip-hop/jazz), and Enhance Fitness (50+ years old).  I have been teaching for 3 years and I love my job!  I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, camping, tennis, and pretty much anything outdoors!
