Census Bureau Opens Offices
Now Hiring for the 2010 Census
The U.S. Census Bureau is now recruiting for thousands of temporary jobs in the Denver Region. To prepare for the 2010 Census, these offices will be initially responsible for updating the Census Bureau's address list in spring 2009. By having an accurate address list, the Census Bureau can ensure every household receives a questionnaire in 2010.
By opening these offices, we are setting the stage for getting an accurate count of every community in the Denver Region in 2010. They will serve as the hubs of activity for the vital first phase of the 2010 Census.
The temporary jobs offer competitive wages and flexible schedules. The workers will use confidential and secure GPS-equipped hand-held computers to verify, add and delete addresses. They will be paid for training. Residents can find information about applying for these jobs on the 2010 Census Web site at www.2010censusjobs.gov or by calling 1-866-861-2010.
Next year, the Census Bureau will open additional offices in to help follow up with households who do not respond to the census questionnaire by mail.
